Monday, Feb. 9 -- Both Parry McCluer High School varsity basketball teams cruised past Highland County in Pioneer District action on Senior Night in Buena Vista.
The Fighting Blues won the girls' contest by a 46-26 count, improving to 7-12 overall and 4-5 in the district. Meanwhile, the boys' team remained unbeaten in the Pioneer with a 70-31 victory over the Rams, moving to 8-0 in district play and 16-3 overall.
In between contests, the Blues honored their senior students from basketball, indoor track and field, cheerleading and pep band. The hoopsters included Kayleigh Ramsey, Katie Tomlin and manager Isaiah Woods from the girls' team, along with Nathan Glass, Sam Griffin and Landon Orren from the boys' squad.
The PM girls are slated to play host to Craig County at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The boys will travel to New Castle to tangle with the Rockets, beginning with the junior varsity contest at 5:30 p.m.
