A large delegation of students from Rockbridge and Natural Bridge high schools attended a regular meeting of the county school board seeking reinstatement of their foosball tables, which had been removed after several cafeteria workers were concerned that students were using their lunch money to play foosball. -A new Sears store was planned for the north of Lexington in the same plaza as Kroger and Super-X. - The Rockbridge Education Association was asking for a salary increase of approximately 12% for both county and Lexington teachers.

Property values in Rockbridge County rose an average of 60% over what they had been assessed five years earlier. - Someone dropped a bag of marijuana and a pipe in the Kroger parking lot. The items were confiscated by the police department. - Raphine was the subject of a five-page feature in Cooperative Living magazine. The story included interviews with Raphine residents and pictures of Buffalo Springs Herb Farm, Wades Mill and Rockbridge Vineyard.
