Seems like forever since I sent in some town news. Between the holidays and my surgery, then snow/ice storm everything just stood still, frozen in time. Our family had a great gathering for Thanksgiving and Christmas, then I had gallbladder surgery on Dec. 29, my older son who lives here, had some issues with kidney stones, and then came the snow and ice and this lady stayed in, thankful for heat, lights, and plenty of food, while recuperating. We both are doing much better. My son was able to clear the back steps and driveway. Now waiting for warmer temps to melt all the rest, but, winter isn’t over yet. That pesky groundhog saw his shadow. We were able to get out and meet with family over the weekend to celebrate my granddaughter’s 7th birthday.
Pastor Wes Young Jr. resigned as pastor of Glasgow Baptist Church in January, effective immediately. The church is still in the midst of remodeling the interior, which will continue, and guest speakers will fill the pulpit for now. Due to weather conditions services were canceled the past two Sundays.
This recent snow and ice event was most difficult to keep our streets in town plowed even with salting. Let me express our appreciation to the town, especially to the head of utilities, Chris Flint, who went without sleep for 34 hours, working to clear the streets. He and his wife, Cheryl, are on a much deserved vacation to warmer places this week. Much appreciation also to those who were able to help neighbors clear their driveways, walks and steps. There are still those who need help with clearing sidewalks, driveways, etc. Hopefully warmer temps this week will help with that.
