New Partnership Formed To Offer Holiday Meals

Easter Meal First Up

Three area not-for-profits have partnered to provide community meals to bring people together during the holidays. Rockbridge CAN, Unity4 Kids and the Community Foundation have established Rockbridge Nourish Together to serve this purpose.

“Bringing family and friends together for a meal is so important,” said Tammy Reid, executive director of Unity4Kids. “It is the mission of Unity4Kids to strengthen community partnerships to continue to expand our reach and meet critical needs like food insecurity. Many local families struggle with access to nutritious meals and this partnership will ensure that we are continuing to address those needs. God calls us to feed the hungry, welcome strangers and comfort those in need.”

There are two events already planned for 2026. The rrs is the Rockbridge Easter Awakening Brunch that is planned for Saturday, April 4, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Buena Vista Fire Department. There will also be a Rockbridge Friendsgiving Dinner on Nov. 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Virginia Horse Center mezzanine.

Michelle Watkins, executive director of Rockbridge CAN, shared, “This partnership is so critical in many ways. Our organizations bring different aspects to the table, which are necessary to provide support and resources to reach more people in our rural area. The mission of Rockbridge CAN is building a thriving community by expanding access to support services, eliminating food insecurity, and fostering meaningful connections.

“Everyone is welcome to join us, and I am excited about this new initiative and how much we are going to accomplish working together for those we serve,” she continued.

Rockbridge Nourish Together will be working on additional community initiatives throughout 2026 to support those in need.

“We are so much better together and able to accomplish more in unity,” said Reid. “We’ve been discussing ways to make this happen since last April, and decided it was time to make it a reality.”
