Jan. 28, 1976

A fire at the Lexington Kenney’s caused $100,000 in damage, according to manager Kenneth Tolley. The fire started in the restaurant’s heat pump located in the ceiling of the building.

-A “pre-application” for a $250,000 federal grant to continue work on the Woods Creek Park project was authorized by Lexington City Council. - Ernest Lawhorne purchased Mother’s Restaurant on West Washington Street.

Amanda Huffman, coordinator of Buena Vista’s Business Development Council, announced her resignation.

--- After nine years serving as leader of the Glasgow-Natural Bridge Men’s Prayer Breakfast Group, George Tompkins handed over the gavel to Lannie Ballard at the Pink Cadillac Restaurant. --- “Pretty skimpy” were the words used by Lexington City Manager Jon Ellestad to describe the city’s upcoming capital improvement projects for the next five years. Funds were tight because of the significant increase in debt service faced by the city taxpayers to finance the new courthouse and parking deck.
