The Southern Virginia University Chamber Singers will present a concert entitled “Expressions of Faith: In the Need of Prayer” on Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 p.m.
An evening of choral music exploring prayer as an act of adoration, supplication, and reassurance, the concert will take place on the SVU campus in the Kimball Center, Room 200, and admission is free.
Conducted by Dr. Benjamin Gaughran, director of choral activities at Southern Virginia University, the program features a wide range of choral repertoire that reflects humanity’s enduring impulse to reach beyond itself — seeking comfort, guidance, and strength through faith.
The concert will be accompanied by SVU alumna Kamryn Bradshaw-Meyer, whose artistry brings added depth and expressivity to the performance, said Gaughran.
Through music spanning styles, eras, and traditions, Expressions of Faith invites listeners into moments of quiet reflection and collective hope. The selections explore prayer not only as a religious practice, but also as a universal human response to uncertainty, gratitude, longing, and trust in a power greater than oneself.
