The Chesapeake and Ohio Railway planned to close its offices in Buena Vista, Glasgow and Buchanan. The four employees who worked in these offices were replaced by a mobile agent working out of a company vehicle. - Arrests for serious crimes – including larceny, breaking and entering and car theft – were on the rise in Lexington. Police Chief A.E. Rhodenizer blamed it all on the economy. -A big crowd showed up for the opening of McGee’s Charcoal Steak House in Glasgow.

Lt. Steve Crowder was appointed Lexington’s Chief of Police. Crowder would assume the job upon Chief Bruce Beard’s retirement.
-A large crowd attended a presentation at the Extension office on gang activity. - The O. Winston Link Museum in Roanoke had a dilemma. The museum didn’t have the means to place Link’s personal caboose on the tracks on the museum’s ground. Bobby Berstresser swept in with his crew and equipment from Lee-Hi and put the caboose where it needed to be.
