Remembering Dr. King
It may have been cold outside on Sunday, but it was warm inside First Baptist Church where a community worship service was held to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community leaders, area ministers and two college presidents spoke at the service. AT TOP LEFT, Lt. Gen. David J. Furness, superintendent of VMI, shared that the vision of VMI is to produce people of character. MIDDLE LEFT, Dr. Lena Hill, W&L provost, talked about her father who marched with Dr. King. BELOW LEFT, PastorAnita Mays Lucord of Trinity United Methodist Church gave the Old Testament reading from Amos. MIDDLE BELOW, Dr. William C. Dudley, W&L president, said that education is essential in achieving King’s goals. BELOW RIGHT, keynote speaker Dr. Jerome J.
