Buena Vista Resignations

Buena Vista Resignations

Jason Tyree, Buena Vista city manager the past five years, tendered his resignation on Tuesday, Jan. 6, giving notice that he would be leaving his position in 90
days, on April 6.

“I feel like it’s a good time for a change,” said Tyree to The News-Gazette this week. “I have a couple of irons in the fire; I can’t say what they are right now. It’s a good time [for the resignation], with the change of mayors, with the changes on City Council.”

Buena Vista City Council held its first meeting of the new year Thursday, Jan. 8, with newly elected Mayor Jesse Lineberry presiding, and two new members, Stephanie Noel-Branch and Amy Gilliam, who were also elected in November, taking their seats.

One of the new Council’s first official actions was to accept the resignation of City Council member Steve Webb, who turned in his letter of resignation earlier in the day on Thursday.

City Attorney Brian Kearney informed Council that it has 45 days to name an interim replacement for Webb, who had two years remaining on his current four-year term. An interim member who Council appoints to replace Webb will serve until a special election can be held next November to elect someone to fill the remaining year of the term.

Council meeting, see the Jan. 14 print edition of The News-Gazette.
