As part of an effort to meet basic needs and provide comfort to older neighbors this winter, Valley Program for Aging Services is sponsoring a “Soup, Socks, and Sunshine” drive through Jan 23.
VPAS is asking the public to bring canned soup, new men’s and women’s socks, and kind notes or drawings to collection boxes at either of the following locations: Maury River Senior Center, 2137 Magnolia Ave., Buena Vista; or Kendal at Lexington, 160 Kendal Drive.
At the end of the collection period, VPAS staff and volunteers will distribute the donations to older adults receiving Meals on Wheels throughout the Buena Vista, Lexington and Rockbridge County region. The goal is to reach 85 homes.
