We would like to wish everyone a very safe and happy new year! Many thanks to all those who donated their time and efforts to decorate and help with the Christmas activities at High Bridge Presbyterian Church this past year.
High Bridge celebrated Holy Communion this past Sunday. Daniel Gilbert, wife Hannah and family were home from Colorado for Christmas this year. Also, Colin Whitmore and wife Logan visited family for the holidays from Jacksonville, Fla.
The evening circle met this past Tuesday with Garnett Teass and the Bible study was led by Dwinnie Shafer.
High Bridge was saddened by the passing of Helen Claytor Cash, Dec. 22, 2025. The funeral was conducted Dec. 26 at Harrison’s Funeral Home by her pastor, the Rev. Steve Willis. Helen was a member of the class of 1953 of Natural Bridge High School.
The Natural Bridge area also mourns the passing of Bill Camden, who died Dec. 16. Bill was also in the NBHS class of ’53. This correspondent knows a little story about Bill Camden, Bill Shafer and Randolph Watts. All classmates, they decided to take a pre-senior trip to Nashville in Watts’s jalopy. On the way, they camped and slept in their car. They woke to find themselves in someone’s front yard. And that’s all I know about that story.
Jane and Brenda Shafer and Cathy Ayers attended the funeral of Jane’s brother-in-law, Gordon Irvine, who passed away Dec. 18. His funeral was held in Churchville.
The Festival of Trees at Natural Bridge State Park gift shop was a great success. The many donations benefiting the Natural Bridge Food Pantry were very much appreciated.
The Natural Bridge Food Pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 10, and close at 11 a.m.
