New Year, New Series Of LLL Meetings

A new series of La Leche League meetings will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Grace Episcopal Church at 10:30 a.m. on the second floor Canterbury room, accessible via an elevator in the back of the church and located at 123 W. Washington St., Lexington.

The series usually begins with why breast milk is so special and advantages for nursing your baby. The second meeting helps to make the transition with a newborn easier by understanding the logistics and timing with feeding the baby, how to know baby is getting enough milk and how can moms get enough sleep when babies typically nurse every two to four hours. The third segment in the series covers some possible remedies for sore nipples, increasing milk supply, how to resolve jaundice, breast infections and ways to calm fussiness. In the final segment, attendees will hear information about improving nutrition for the family, when to start solid foods for baby and navigating the process of weaning.

There is much overlap with all discussions and parents are invited to never leave without their question answered. Questions often provide information that others may also find beneficial. Meetings are free and open to all nursing, pregnant or interested parents as well as babies, toddlers and young children. Refreshments will be served and a free lending library is available.
