The Rockbridge County High School girls basketball team suffered a 59-26 home loss to Turner Ashby on Friday afternoon in Lexington.
With the win, the Knights (10-1) completed a sweep of the regular-season series with the Wildcats (3-6). When the teams met on Dec. 22 in Bridgewater, TA won 56-22.
In the rematch, TA capitalized on RC turnovers and raced to a 10-0 lead, ending the first quarter up 18-7. The Knights increased their advantage to 37-12 by halftime and carried the momentum into the second half, leading 50-17 at the end of the third quarter. With reserves playing in the fourth quarter and a running clock most of the way because the lead was 30 points or more, each team scored nine points.
TA’s Maisey Miller led all players with 15 points, making three 3-pointers, while teammate Alyse Sheffey scored 10 points, and Ava Myers chipped in six points for the Knights.
Lola Mulitalo paced the Wildcats with 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Bella Dorey scored six points, and Brooklyn Beverly and Genesis McCoy each chipped in three.
The Wildcats, who earned a 50-30 home win over Parry McCluer on Monday, will have a rematch at PM (1-6) on Saturday, with the tip-off scheduled for 4 p.m., following the junior varsity boys’ game between the two schools.
