Arnolds Valley

Karyn Gardner, (540) 228-2176, (540) 655-3646 [email protected]

My brother, Zach, and I are grieving the sudden loss of our father, Roger Brown. Dad was well known throughout our community. He passed away on Saturday, Dec. 13. He was 65 years old. We, and all of his many friends, are really going to miss him. Fly high, Dad!

Sending birthday wishes to Kathy Bennington, Shelia Decker, and my grandfather-in-law, Ron Blair, as well as to St. John’s Episcopal Church members Anne Henderson, Charlie Rogers and John Carroll, and to Faith Baptist Church member Larry Clark. Happy anniversary to Faith Baptist members Harry and Barbara Wright, Bob and Martha Tolley and Tony and Melissa Hutcherson.

At Faith Baptist Church on Dec. 31, there will be a Men’s Prayer Breakfast at 8 a.m. and the New Year’s Eve service at 6 p.m.

St. John’s Episcopal Church’s annual Christmas Eve Community Service of Lessons and Carols will be this evening at 4. As in previous years, the lessons are presented by members of different denominations to bring our community together in the spirit of the season.

The wonderful musicians of St. John’s, organist Bert Buford and the fantastic brass duo of Courtney VanOsten on trombone and Josh Gardner on euphonium and trumpet, will be joined by a flutist, a full singing choir, and the beautiful sounds of the Rockbridge Chime Choir. Barbecue and other refreshments will be available in the parish hall after the service. Everyone is welcome and please come as you are!
