Kerrs Creek

Rachel Clark, (630)

The Sunday morning service at New Monmouth Presbyterian Church was full of joy, worship, music, light and even a little laughter. The service began with the youth and adult handbell choir playing “O Come, All Ye Faithful.” They did a beautiful job under the direction of Laura Hotinger and conducted on Sunday by Karen Duff. Thank you to Marsha, Loretta and Karen for sharing the advent devotion and lighting the Advent wreath.

After time for confession, prayer and greeting of neighbors, a pop-up nativity took place. As Pastor Casey Clark read the Christmas story, participants from the congregation came forward in costumes to play the various roles. It was a delight to see, with participation from so many, young and old. Interspersed throughout the story were some of our favorite classic Christmas hymns that we all joined together to sing. Thank you to Laura Hotinger on piano and Calvin Clark on the bell tree for a beautiful offertory. A light reception followed the service to celebrate the day.

The candlelight Christmas Eve service at New Monmouth will take place at 5 p.m.

There will be a jazz night on New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m. Come enjoy music, fellowship and finger foods.

Pew removal will take place after the New Year. Tim will let us know a date when he has one.

New Monmouth invites the women in our community to a women’s conference on Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We will have a special speaker on the topic of Sabbath and rest, a meal will be shared together, and there will be break-out groups to explore ways to find rest in God. The conference will take place at the Barn on Stillhouse Road. Let Rachel know if you are interested.
