In its home opener, the Parry McCluer High School boys basketball team earned a 68-61 comeback win to knock James River from the ranks of the unbeaten on Tuesday night in Buena Vista.
Langston Cook led the Fighting Blues (3-2) with 24 points, converting clutch free throws at the end of the game, and Nathan Glass made a slam dunk to help PM seal the win. The Knights (4-1) were leading by five points at the end of the first half and were up 47-44 at the end of the third quarter, but the Blues had a strong finish.
After Christmas, the Blues will return to action when they make the short trip to Lexington to take on local rival Rockbridge County (3-4) on Monday. The day will start with the junior varsity boys’ game at 2:30 p.m., followed by the varsity girls’ game at 4, before concluding with the varsity boys’ game at 5:30.
