High Bridge

Esther Pennington, 540-291-2629

High Bridge Presbyterian Church celebrated the third Sunday of Advent with the lighting of the candle by Kristy Reed and sons Daniel and Emmett. The children’s sermon was led by Dwinnie Shafer. Preston White read a story about Joseph. Visiting the service were two rugby players from Virginia Military Institute. Attending while home from college were Nicole Black, Andrew McCoy and Katherine Lotts, as well as Mary Gilbert of Colorado who is visiting Kathy Gilbert for the Christmas holiday.

The High Bridge annual Christmas drive-thru Nativity has been canceled due to the weather. Instead, there will be a short presentation by the children after the service this coming Sunday. There will be a session meeting after the children’s Christmas presentation next Sunday.

We will have a Christmas Eve Candlelight Communion service on Dec. 24 at 5 p.m.

The Festival of Trees is now taking place at Natural Bridge State Park gift shop. Please try to stop by to vote for your favorite tree and support local charities with gifts of canned food or monetary donations.

The Natural Bridge Food Pantry will open promptly at 9 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 18, and close at 11 a.m. We ask that our supporting churches and friends donate peanut butter and jelly. Also, we will greatly appreciate donations to purchase hams for Christmas.
