Santa visited Collierstown on Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Collierstown Baptist Church’s pavilion. He met with children and families and enjoyed receiving their Christmas requests. The event featured games, activities and sweet treats. The event also offered photo opportunities with Santa courtesy of the Effinger Ruritan Club and Bluegrass Photography. Santa’s visit was hosted by the community’s seven churches ‒ Collierstown Baptist, Presbyterian, and United Methodist churches along with Mt. Horeb United Methodist, Oxford Presbyterian, Rapps Mill Church, and Union View Advent Christian Church.

Lighting the Advent Candle of Joy at the Collierstown United Methodist Church on Sunday, Dec. 14, were the men of the congregation. During the worship hour a musical offering, Toda la Tierra, was sung in Spanish by Angela Montague who accompanied herself on the guitar.

The Collierstown Methodist Men will hold their monthly breakfast on Saturday, Dec. 20, at 9 a.m. in the church’s fellowship hall. A Christmas Eve Service for the Collierstown United Methodist Charge will be held at the Mt. Horeb Church at 7 p.m. on Dec. 24.

Roger Lees led the lighting of Advent candle of Joy at the opening of the 11 a.m. worship service at the Collierstown Presbyterian Church on Dec. 14. On Sunday, Dec. 21, the children and youths of the church will present this year’s Christmas play, “Joy to the World,” in the sanctuary during the 11:00 a.m. worship service. Following the worship service, a time of fellowship and a Christmas card exchange will be held in the fellowship hall. Two Christmas Eve services are planned at the church on Dec. 24 with one at 3 p.m. and the second at 9 p.m. The sacrament of communion will be observed at both services.

Union View Advent Christian Church will hold a Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m. in the church sanctuary on Dec. 24. The church is located at 4574 Turnpike Road.
