Congratulations to my sister-in-law, Bethany Gardner, on her engagement to Thomas Lloyd. The couple is planning on a March wedding in Utah.
This Friday, Dec. 12, at noon, the Maury River Pickers and Singers, featuring my friend Barry, will be performing a free Christmas concert at the Maury River Senior Center at 2137 Magnolia Ave. in Buena Vista.
At Faith Baptist Church, there will be a men’s prayer breakfast this morning at 8. The Poinsettia Tree service will be on Dec. 14. There will be a clothes closet on Dec. 15 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Faith Baptist’s Christmas communion service will be on Dec. 21.
At St. John’s Episcopal Church, this Sunday’s service will be a Liturgy of the Word service led by the Rev. Deacon Linda Ricker. Many thanks to the Rev. Dr. Bob Copenhaver for leading the service this past Sunday. Thanks also to Bert Buford, Courtney VanOsten and Josh Gardner for providing music for the service and to Courtney VanOsten for hosting and providing refreshments for coffee hour.
