The Chamber of Commerce Serving Lexington, Buena Vista and Rockbridge County is accepting nominations for the G. Otis Mead III Business Individual of the Year Award.
The honor is bestowed annually on a local business leader who embodies the creativity, civic spirit and community-minded leadership exemplified by Mead, a visionary whose half-century of service helped shape Lexington and the greater Rockbridge community. First awarded to Mead himself in 1985, this year marks the first t ime t he a ward w ill b e formally named in his honor, ensuring his legacy guides its future.
This recognition, said a spokesperson, “celebrates those who view business not only as a profession but as a force for community progress, collaboration and pride. Nominees should ref lect Mead’s tradition of strengthening the region through innovation, partnership, and a commitment to making our ‘neat place even neater’.”
For the past 40 years, “the chamber has had the privilege of recognizing a business individual of the year, honoring one person who has consistently contributed to the growth and economic vitality of our community. Each year, the recipient is selected for their dedication to business excellence and their active involvement in local initiatives, creating opportunities and enhancing the well-being of our area.
“If you know someone who works selflessly to make our community a better place for everyone, please nominate him or her today – and be specific – tell us why this person deserves the award.”
