The Buena Vista Police Department, the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #31, and the Office of the Sheriff for Rockbridge County and Lexington City have partnered to host the annual “Shop with a Cop” event on Dec. 13.
School resource deputies and officers are currently coordinating with area schools to identify and nominate children who would most benefit from participation. Selected children will receive a Golden Ticket, granting them the opportunity to go Christmas shopping with a local law enforcement officer. This program not only assists families during the holiday season but also strengthens relationships between youth and the officers who serve their communities.
To make this year’s event possible, organizers are seeking tax-deductible donations from local residents, businesses, and community organizations. Contributions directly support the purchase of gifts and essentials for participating children.
