Nov. 26, 1975

More than $2,800 was raised for needy families in the Rockbridge area by WLUR-FM, Washington and Lee University’s studentrun radio station. WLUR DJ Tommy Hudgins stayed on the air for 40 hours straight, with local merchants and businesses donating a dollar for each hour of the broadcast. - Three portable color TVs valued at $1,000 were reported stolen from the Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge. - The Buena Vista School Board found out that the school system was getting $37,000 less than it had anticipated in state funds.

Nov. 30, 2005

Torrential downpours caused the South River to rise 7.6 feet resulting in authorities ordering a voluntary evacuation of homes along South River Road. - More than 400 Buena Vista and Rockbridge County residents signed a petition supporting the construction of a MeadWestvaco distribution center in Buena Vista. - The Willson-Walker House closed after 20 years in business.
