Rockbridge County and Lexington Sheriff Tony McFaddin’s inaugural Sheriff’s Senior Social was held Oct. 22 at the Virginia Horse Center, marking the launch of a new community tradition dedicated to celebrating and supporting our local seniors.

The event brought together over 150 attendees and featured more than 30 senior-focused vendors, offering information, free resources, and a complimentary lunch. Attendees enjoyed a day of fellowship, learning, and community connection, said McFaddin.

Guest speakers included McFaddin, Lexington Mayor Frank Friedman, Congressman Ben Cline, Botetourt Sheriff Matt Ward, Brooke Tomlin, Rockbridge commissioner of the revenue, Amanda Kidd with Amanda Kidd Insurance, and Tommy Miller from the YMCA, each addressing senior-related issues and opportunities within our community.

“Our seniors are the backbone of Rockbridge County and the city of Lexington,” said McFaddin. “They’ve given so much to this community, and it’s our responsibility to make sure they feel supported, valued, and connected. The Sheriff’s Senior Social is just one way we can bring people together, share resources, and celebrate the people who built the strong foundation we stand on today.”

Sheriff McFaddin announced plans to host the Sheriff’s Senior Social quarterly in 2026 as part of his ongoing community outreach program.
