Music, Food Highlight W&L Events
As the holiday season approaches, Washington and Lee University will present several seasonal events open to the community.
Gear up for the holiday season with a kid-friendly Winter Wonderland Family Dinner at W&L’s Marketplace on Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 4:30 to 8 p.m.
That evening, W&L will present its annual Holiday Pops Concert at 7 in Wilson Concert Hall in the Lenfest Center for the Arts. This concert features choral and instrumental ensembles from the W&L Department of Music performing pieces that celebrate the holiday season. The program will include new works and traditional favorites, and feature a variety of student conductors.
Tickets are required but are free with a nonperishable food or monetary donation to Campus Kitchen at W&L, an organization that addresses food insecurity in Lexington and Rockbridge County. For more information, visit https:// my.wlu.edu/lenfest-center/holiday- pops.
Then on Thursday, Dec. 4, it’s back to W&L’s Marketplace for its holiday dinner at 4:30 p.m. More details can be found at https://my.wlu.edu/dining-services/ special-events.
After dinner on Dec. 4, area residents are invited to the annual Lessons and Carols service at 8 p.m., which is being held at Grace Episcopal Church this year due to renovations underway in University Chapel.
Lessons and Carols is an annual tradition at W&L dating back over 80 years. The candlelight service weaves together the narration of the Christmas story through music, readings and carols. No tickets are required.
