Don’t miss the display of hundreds of luminaries that will line the walkways of Hopkins Green, Friday, Nov. 28, during Main Street Lexington’s candlelight processional and the lighting of the downtown Christmas tree. This will be the 30th year Rockbridge SPCA has been making luminary bags for this event. Volunteers, board members and friends of the shelter make and set out the luminaires for a magical display you will not want to miss.
A week later the fun doesn’t stop, with SPCA dogs walking in the downtown Christmas parade Friday, Dec. 5. Wishful shelter dogs, some who have been in the shelter for over a year, will do their best to catch the eye of someone special. Maybe it will be you?
Remember our dogs and cats this holiday season. You can bring a toy, a treat, a blanket or various food items to place under the SPCA Christmas tree at the Christmas open house Saturday, Dec. 13, from 1 to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and you can tour the shelter and visit the SPCA’s furry friends. For needed items need, go to the website at www.rockbridgespca. net for a complete list.
Don’t let your dog, cat, lizard, bunny, horse, or any other pet miss out on a photo with Mr. and Mrs. Claus. This year Mrs. Claus will be joining Santa for pet photos. No appointment is necessary, and photos are only $10 each.
The Spaw at the SPCA has become very popular with new and regular customers. The cost is $15 per dog and includes everything you need to give your dog a bath in a hydraulic lifting tub. The Spaw is open Monday through Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is a great way to make your pet shine this holiday season.
And let’s talk Christmas miracles. Construction has begun and a clinic is emerging. The SPCA is excited to announce the opening this spring of Rockbridge Spay and Neuter Clinic, providing low-cost spay and neuter surgeries, yearround rabies shots, microchipping, wellness checks and more. Engraved memorial bricks are being sold to permanently honor your pet and will be placed in the courtyard entrance of the clinic. The bricks would make a great Christmas gift for animal lovers or the person who already has everything. For more information visit the SPCA website or call the shelter at (540) 463-5123.
