Youths Join Rockbridge Chorus’ Program

As part of its 50th anniversary season, the Rockbridge Chorus, directed by William McCorkle, will present its annual holiday program at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, in the Lexington Presbyterian Church.

As in previous years, the evening will begin with a community carol sing at 7:15 p.m. A special feature of the program will be the return of the Rockbridge Youth Chorale, directed by Lacey Lynch and Katelyn Roll, to join the adult chorus in several selections.

This year’s chorus repertoire, drawn from singer and audience favorites over the years, will feature music of many lands and styles. Composers and arrangers include Randall Thompson, Stephen Paulus, Matthew Culloton, Ola Gjeilo, Emerson Sieverts, Harrison Oxley, Stephen Chatman and William McCorkle. Joining the singers will be collaborative pianist Anna Billias. Soloists will include soprano Christine Fairfield, baritone David Sorrells, and tenors Adam Williams and Scott Williamson, who also serves as associate conductor of the chorus.

For more than two decades, the chorus’ December holiday performance has become one of the community’s best loved and most cherished traditions. Advance tickets for the performance can be purchased online from the Rockbridge Choral Society website, rcs. org. Tickets are $12.50 per person, $35 for immediate family. Tickets will also be available at the door: for $15 per person, $40 for immediate family.

The Rockbridge Chorus is a part of the Rockbridge Choral Society, which receives tax-exempt support from area individuals, businesses and organizations. For more information, call (540) 460-9650.
