Charles Jolley has been elected to the Buena Vista School Board. He received the most writein votes to win the fourth seat that was up for election Nov. 4 Jolley’s election was determined in the official canvassing of votes that was conducted last Wednesday, Nov. 12, by the Buena Vista Electoral Board. He prevailed by receiving 225 votes to Mike Cartolaro’s 203.
In the Nov. 4 election, there were four pending vacancies on the Buena Vista School Board but only three candidates on the ballot. Lisa Kerr and Roy Mohler were reelected to their seats and Ray Gilbert was elected to the third seat. Jolley now joins them as the winner of the fourth seat.
Jolley is an entrepreneur who has a business in which he certifies basketball goals for NCAA schools. He has a varied back ground that in- cluded previously teaching and coaching in high schools and colleges across the country. He and his wife Jan have lived in Buena Vista the past 19 years.

Cartolaro was appointed to the School Board in September to fill the remainder of the term of John Rice, who resigned because he moved outside of the city. Rice’s term was to have run through the end of December.
There will be a special election next November to fill the remaining one year of an unexpired term on the School Board. On Oct. 2, Mac Felts was appointed to fill a vacancy that was created by the death of Wayne Flint. Felts is serving until next year’s special election.
Jolley and Gilbert will take their seats on the School Board Jan. 1. They will replace Cartolaro and John Roberts, who did not seek reelection.
