The Ronnie Campbell Memorial Scholarship, sponsored by the Rockbridge Breakfast Club, is hosting its third annual fundraiser.
This scholarship aids young adults who want to learn a trade and acquire practical skills that lead to productive and rewarding careers. The scholarship is dedicated to supporting young adults from Rockbridge County, Lexington, and Buena Vista attending local trade schools and programs.
This year the scholarship event, honoring Ronnie Campbell’s dedication to Rockbridge County, will return to Art on Magnolia in Buena Vista on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mark Potter, 3WZ/Big Dawg radio station manager, has agreed to reprise his role as an auctioneer for the live art painting by artist Izzie Ballstead.
In May, the committee awarded a $2,500 scholarship to RCHS senior Dalton Woody to attend the National Auto Diesel College/ Lincoln Tech in Nashville, Tenn. In May 2024, the committee, in coordination with Beyers Welding, awarded a scholarship for $3,000 to RCHS graduate Tristan Brown to attend Byers Technical Institute to become skilled in the welding trade. The tickets are $25 and can be obtained by mailing a check made out to the Rockbridge Breakfast Club, 1223 North Lee Highway, Lexington, VA 24450. The Rockbridge Breakfast Club is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Named in memory of Ronnie Campbell, retired Virginia state trooper who served on the Rockbridge County School Board and the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors, this scholarship honors his lifelong commitment to public service and education.
