Glasgow

Carolyn Bradley, 258-2720

Notices went out in the water bill this past week thanking town’s folk for their efforts to clean up their properties of junk and clutter. This makes our town a more desirable place to live and work.

Also, the Glasgow Free Market is scheduled to be open on Nov. 20 from 9 to 11 a.m. This will be located across from the food pantry, next door to Town Hall. They are currently accepting items for distribution, like clothing, household goods, gently used bedding (no mattresses), toys, books, games, pet supplies and toys, diapers and incontinence products. Bring items to Town Hall by Monday, Nov 17. Please put items in bags or boxes and clearly label what they are.

Another town venture will be Two Rivers Trading Post that is to be located in the old library/post office building across from Town Hall. The building is currently under renovation with a tentative opening date some time this winter.

A third venture will be a flea market in the spring of 2026. We welcome to Glasgow, Bub Bub’s Grill, a sit-down restaurant, officially open at 404 Pocahontas St. According to their Facebook site the hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The annual Christmas parade in town is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6, at 4 p.m. This is sponsored by the Glasgow Life Saving and First Aid Crew.

In the absence of Pastor Wes, Deacon Sonny Williams brought the morning message at Glasgow Baptist Church this past Sunday. Remodeling on the main floor and upstairs bathrooms is progressing. The electrical and plumbing work is completed. Sheetrock has been installed and painted. Tile has been laid in the upstairs bathrooms. Those upstairs bathrooms will probably be completed before the downstairs, because there wasn’t as much demolition to those. I’m sure the congregation will be happy when the work is completed.

Mike and Carolyn Bradley participated in the craft vendor event at the Clifton Forge Armory this past Saturday.

We learned this week that Dr. Rowland at Augusta Maury River Family Practice will be leaving the end of December. I was told they are seeking a replacement, hopefully to come in as Dr. Rowland leaves, to make a smooth transition. Meanwhile, Beverly Caldwell, nurse practitioner, will still be seeing patients.
