Nov. 10, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette: Several people I’ve spoken with are under the impression that the Lexington Farmers Market has to move and that the city is making us move.
That is totally incorrect. The city has offered no input, recommendation, or pressure to relocate the market. They are happy for us to stay in our current location, but will support us if we want to move.
All discussion of relocating the market has originated from within the market. The motivation to seek another location stems from our desire for a flatter, safer surface for the safety of our customers, as well as increased parking for their convenience.
All potential market locations have pluses and minuses, as does our current location. We have not found a better location than our current one, and until a better one is found we are staying put. MITCH WAPNER Committee chair for the market
