Jesse Lineberry was elected mayor of Buena Vista Tuesday, unseating incumbent Mayor Tyson Cooper. Lineberry received 1,101 votes to Cooper's 916.
In Rockbridge County, Steve Hart was elected to be the next Kerrs Creek District member of the Board of Supervisors and Jay Lewis was re-elected Walkers Creek District supervisor. Hart collected 1,097 votes to Boyd Brown's 592. Lewis was the choice of 643 voters while Toria Brown received 619 votes and Steve Reese got 601.
Rockbridge County and Lexington Sheriff Tony McFaddin was elected to the position he has held on an interim basis. He received 5,926 votes to Chris Norris's 2,945 and Fred Smith's 637.
In the race for three seats on Buena Vista City Council, the victors were Stephanie Noel-Branch, Danny Staton and Amy Gilliam. With seven candidates in this race, the totals were as follows: Noel-Branch, 920; Staton, 821; Gilliam, 776; Stanley Coffey, 741; Frank Huffman, 704; Melvin Henson, 558; and Pamela Camden, 509.
Buena Vista Sheriff Randy Hamilton was re-elected with 1,079 votes to Chris Wheeler's 739 and Alan Buzzard's 227.
Write-in results for the Buena Vista School Board will not be available until later. There were three candidates on the ballot -- Lisa Kerr, Roy Mohler and Ray Gilbert -- and four pending vacancies. Results were as follows -- Kerr, 1,413; Mohler, 1,274; and Gilbert, 1,108. The fourth seat will be determined by write-in votes.
In Buena Vista's state constitutional officers' races, incumbents elected without opposition were Commonwealth's Attorney Josh Elrod, Commissioner of Revenue Ashton Beverly and Treasurer Amy Hudson.
Rockbridge County School Board members Catie Brown of the Kerrs Creek District and Corey Berkstresser of the South River District were re-elected without opposition.
Lexington Treasurer Pat DeLaney was re-elected without opposition. Kelly Glass was elected without opposition to be Lexington's next commissioner of revenue.
Glasgow Mayor Paul Williams was re-elected without opposition, as were Town Council members Tom Camden, Kent Dunn and Lisa Rogers.
In local House of Delegates races, Del. Ellen Campbell of the 36th District and Del. Terry Austin of the 37th District were both re-elected.
Voter turnout in Rockbridge County was 59 percent. In Lexington it was 50 percent and in Buena Vista it was 46 percent.
