High Bridge

Esther Pennington, 540-291-2629 There were two visitors to the service at High Bridge Presbyterian Church this past Sunday. They were Doris Tolley Trussell of Fairfax and the Rev. Dr. Bill Klein of Lexington.

Special guest pianist was Nancy Tolley Hostetter of Lexington.

Noisy Can and Children’s Church will be on Sunday, Nov. 9. There will be a congregational meeting after service on November 16. The nominating committee will present its slate of officers for selection for the class of 2028.

Thanks to those who helped with the reception for the Darold Dameron family this past Saturday.

The annual Trunk-or-Treat was a big success this past Sunday. Many thanks to those who provided trunks and treats.

The afternoon circle meets Tuesday, Nov. 11 with Gladys Link at 1.

Beth Horon United Methodist Church will have its annual pork tenderloin dinner fundraiser on Saturday, Nov. 8, beginning at 4 pm. All proceeds will benefit the church mission.

A veterans breakfast for dinner will be held at the Natural Bridge firehouse on Veterans Day, Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. Veterans eat free, with others paying by donation.

Lloyd and Esther Pennington, Dianne Rakes of Salem, and Mark Pennington of Martinsburg, W.Va., attended the funeral of Wanda Pennington this past Saturday at Harrison’s and a reception at Bethesda Presbyterian Church at Rockbridge Baths. Wanda was Lloyd’s sister-in-law.

High Bridge extends sympathy to Sam Vest and family for the passing of his sister, Madeleine Vest Chittum of Lexington. A graveside service was held at Kerrs Creek Baptist cemetery.

The Natural Bridge Food Pantry will open promptly at 9 am on Saturday, November 8 and close at 11 a.m. We ask that our supporting churches and friends donate cereal and instant potatoes. Also, we will greatly appreciate donations to purchase turkeys for Thanksgiving.
