In a marathon match, the Parry McCluer High School volleyball team suffered a 3-2 loss to Bath County in the Pioneer District third-place match on Thursday night at Eastern Montgomery High School in Elliston.
Fourth-seeded Bath County (19-9 overall, 5-5 district), which had split a pair of regular-season matches with the third-seeded Fighting Blues (13-12, 6-4), fended off a PM comeback and prevailed 15-10 in the fifth and final set.
The Blues will enter the Region 1C tournament as the fourth seed from the Pioneer District and will play at Giles (20-2), the top seed from the Mountain Empire District, in the Region 1C quarterfinals on Monday at 6 p.m.
