Assessors To Start Work In City

The city of Lexington has retained Vision Government Solutions to perform the city’s 2026 general reassessment, which will go into effect on July 1, 2026. The city undergoes a reassessment every four years, and the upcoming reassessment is part of the regular reassessment cycle.

Members of the assessment team will begin visiting properties in the city on Monday, Nov. 3, to make field assessments of the state of the homes. The assessors will be carrying identification and are expected to complete the assessment of properties next spring. Notices of any proposed change in the assessed value of the property will be mailed to property owners in May and will include information about the process for appealing the reassessment.

“We want to alert the public to this because our assessors will be coming out to residents’ homes to look at dwellings and their property in general, as well as, to take exterior pictures/measurements in order to determine the fair market value,” said Gary L. Eanes, the contracted assessor who will be leading the assessment team. “Also, it is our ultimate goal to get a good, accurate assessment of all real estate in the city.”If any residents of Lexington have questions about the upcoming reassessment, contact the city Commissioner of Revenue’s office at (540) 462-3701.
