Monday, Oct. 27 -- Third-seeded Parry McCluer High School defeated No. 6 seed Highland County 3-0 in the quarterfinals of the Pioneer District volleyball tournament in Buena Vista.
With the 25-12, 25-13, 25-18 victory, PM (13-10) advances to face No. 2 seed Narrows on the road in the semifinal round on Tuesday night.
The Blues served their way past the Rams (7-14) in Monday's matchup, dialing up 24 aces in the three-set affair. Allie Cullen led the way with seven aces, and Presley Camden notched six. PM also got five aces from Josie Martinez, three from Kadence Zollman and a pair from Emory Slagle.
Zollman paced the offense with eight kills while collecting 10 digs, and Slagle tallied six kills. Cullen posted 12 digs, Martinez had four kills and nine digs, and Jorja Catlett added 13 assists and three kills.
Brooke Williams totaled three kills and two blocks for Highland. Eleanor White had four aces, while Makynley Smith and Amelia Good served up two apiece.
PM and Narrows split their regular-season series, with each team winning at home. The winner of Tuesday's semifinal will advance to Thursday's championship, with the loser taking part in the third-place game. Both of those contests will take place at the highest remaining seed.
