Oct. 17, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette: I grew up in Rockbridge County and now own a small business in Buena Vista. I want to share my support for Sheriff Randy Hamilton. When I was a young single mother, trying to find my way, I had the privilege of working for his wife, Betty Jo Hamilton, at the Lexington Country Club. During a difficult time in my life, both Randy and Betty Jo showed me genuine kindness and encouragement. They offered guidance, faith, and friendship that helped shape the person I am today.
They invited me to church, prayed with me, and mentored me. Over the years, our friendship continued, and I’ve seen firsthand the kind of people they are — humble, compassionate, and devoted to helping others.
Sheriff Hamilton treats everybody like somebody. He doesn’t judge you based on your past or your mistakes. He leads with fairness, integrity, and love for this community and every person in it.
Buena Vista is blessed to have a sheriff who not only enforces the law but truly cares about the people he serves. I am proud to call Randy and Betty Jo my friends, and I support Sherriff Hamilton’s continued service to a community that I love and serve in. AMANDA KIDD Buena Vista
