Editor, The News-Gazette: Having proudly served as your previous sheriff for Rockbridge County and the city of Lexington I know the qualifications and experience necessary to lead the office. We are fortunate to have a candidate for sheriff in this election that has those qualifications and work experience.
Tony McFaddin, currently serving as sheriff, has worked in patrol, all facets of criminal investigations, specialized in drug enforcement investigations and has completed numerous training and professional development courses. He is a graduate of the Virginia Forensic Science Academy and routinely is asked to instruct at the regional training academy.
Tony was placed in leadership and supervisory positions by Sheriff Day, served as chief deputy under Sheriff Blalock and also served as my chief deputy. That experience has helped Tony to learn fiscal responsibility while managing a department budget, garnered him experience in personnel and time management and helped him to round out his leadership qualities.
The deputies and staff at Rockbridge County and Lexington City Sheriff’s Office work hard every day to maintain a reputation of excellence, integrity and professionalism. Tony has been a part of that hard work and he will work hard every day to ensure that the office continues to be recognized and respected as a premiere law enforcement agency.
