The Rockbridge Symphony will launch its 51st season on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Lexington Presbyterian Church, with a program celebrating “The Other B’s.”

Instead of Bach, Brahms, and Beethoven, audiences will be treated to works by Bellini, Barber, Bizet, Borodin, Badelt, and Bernstein.

The Rockbridge Symphony — an ensemble of about 40 local musicians spanning generations — will fill the church with vibrant and familiar melodies showcasing the breadth of the orchestral tradition.

Tickets will go on sale in late October at Sugar Maple Trading Company, Cheese to You, Artists in Cahoots, and University Florist in downtown Lexington, and may also be purchased online at rockbridgesymphony.org or at the door. Admission remains affordable: $10 for adults, $5 for students, and free for children 12 and under.

Looking ahead, the Symphony’s Winter 2026 concert (date and location to be determined) will be presented as “Shall We Dance: A Sensory-Friendly Concert,” featuring lively, accessible favorites from Anderson, Brahms, Bock, J.S. Bach, Hayman, Glière, Saint-Saëns, Copland, and Offenbach.

The season will conclude on April 25 at Lexington Presbyterian Church with the dramatic and moving melodies of Dvořák’s New World Symphony, a concerto performance by principal oboist Doug Lane, and additional works.

Founded in 1975, the Rockbridge Symphony is a community orchestra dedicated to bringing live classical music to the region. Under the direction of Dr. Matthew Mainella, the Rockbridge Symphony unites local musicians who share a love of music and a commitment to performing for their neighbors.
