Imagine if you will, a Republican candidate for Virginia attorney general, the highest law enforcement officer in the state, has been found to have fantasized about putting two bullets in the head of a Democrat political rival. In addition, he fantasized about killing the Democrat’s two young elementary children in front of the Democrat’s wife.
I m med iately, the Democrat Party called for him to step down and they were joined by the Republican Party who not only called for him to step down but to get psychiatric help ...
This “Twilight Zone” scenario did not happen. But the Democrat candidate Jay Jones for attorney general, not only imagined shooting a Republican rival but also killing his young children in front of his wife.
In addition, it was learned he was arrested for speeding — he was clocked at driving 116 miles per hour! Rather than facing jail time, Jones was fined $1,500 and ordered to serve 1,000 community service hours (or more than 6.25 months of eight-hour days, five days a week, of donated time to community or charity organizations!)
It was reported he served 500 hours with NAACP and the other 500 hours with a political fundraising PAC he was directly involved in which some have questioned whether this met the spirit of the law.
Needless to say, the Republican Party officials and candidates and others have called for him to step down but he said he “regretted” the emails, but he seemed to many to have more regretted having gotten caught and exposed.
Democrats quickly “accepted” his apology and regret. The Democrat governor and lieutenant governor candidates have dodged any call for him to step down. Sen. Tim Kaine said he clearly didn’t mean it and that he has known Jones for “25 years” — we can picture 42-year-old Kaine and 11-year-old Jones shooting hoops and playing hide and go seek!
What triggered Jones’ wrath was the fact the Republican he wanted to kill had delivered a moving tribute eulogy to a Democrat political rival but also his personal friend! Clearly, this man is not qualified to be Virginia’s attorney general.
This is but one of the strange actions by Democrats. Locally, Democrats like to stand on street corners holding up signs including ones calling for support of free speech. These are the same Democrats at the Buena Vista Laor Day event who drowned out all Republican candidates from being heard.
It can be expected the group sitting to the right of the Labor Day event stage will vote Republican and those on the left will vote Democrat but the people around the sides and behind came to hear the candidates of both parties so they can decide for themselves who they support. The childish and rude behavior showed local Democrats and other Democrats bused in had no respect for others who thought they would have a chance to hear both parties and independent candidates.
Congressman Ben Cline represents a large area with many towns and cities and rural areas. Since he was first elected to the state legislature and later to Congress, he has had a long tradition of holding town hall meetings. His district has changed, and new towns and areas have b een a dded. H e h as g iven priority to having town halls in the new areas to give the people added to his district a chance to meet him and for him to hear their issues.
The local area Democrats kept calling for him to hold town halls locally and he recently announced he was holding a town hall for people of Lexington and an upcoming town hall for Buena Vista residents and yet another town hall for others elsewhere in the county.
When he held a town hall in Lexington, the Democrats who had called for it were outside protesting it! Inside, as was noted in the News Gazette, Democrats were making rude and snide remarks disturbing others attending the town hall meeting.
Calls for violence after two assassination attempts on President Trump, the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and violence against ICE agents should be enough for Democrats to tone down the rhetoric.
ICE agents have been called “Nazis,” “Gestapo agents” and worse b y D emocrats. T hese i mmigration agents are doing what the immigration law requires and that is the removal of people in the country illegally. As per orders, their priority is to capture and remove criminals.
It should be remembered, Democrats turned a blind eye to the lies of President Biden and his administration that the border was secure and there was no crisis as over 20 million illegal aliens from around the world entered the country, largely u nvetted. I CE h as b een assigned to enforce existing immigration laws that were violated during the Biden administration. Instead of respecting these law enforcement agents, some Democrats have encouraged not just protest but violence against the agents.
Freedom of speech does not mean people can just say anything — calls for violence, law breaking, or infringing on other’s freedoms are not accepted free speech. It can only be hoped that good manners and respect for others and their free speech can again be a return to the norm for Democrats.
