For McFaddin

Oct. 10, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette: I have known and worked with all three candidates for the Rockbridge/Lexington sheriff for many years and I consider each to be a friend. But from my perspective as a career prosecutor, one is far and away the most capable, the most experienced, and the most qualified to perform the duties and responsibilities of that important office: Tony McFaddin.

Over the last decade, I have seen how Tony is intricately involved in virtually every major investigation in Rockbridge County — from shootings and stabbings to robberies and rapes; from crimes against children to the ultimate crime against society of murder — and he does it right! If he wasn’t in the trenches doing it himself, he was training others under his command to do it right. It’s not just the years, it’s the milage.

As commonwealth’s attorney, I want a sheriff who not only knows how to properly and thoroughly investigate criminal offenses that can withstand the scrutiny of trial but one who also knows how to direct others to do it as well. That’s the kind of experience and leadership that only one candidate in this race possesses. And that’s why Tony McFaddin has my vote. JARED L. MOON Commonwealth’s attorney Rockbridge County/city of Lexington
