Oct. 13, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette: Citizens who care about fair elections should be concerned that an out-of-state PAC – “Private Property Rights” - has infiltrated Virginia races, including the Rockbridge County supervisors races. This PAC has distributed unsolicited materials about Boyd Brown and Jay Lewis without their consent. Then, an unidentified person bought an ad in this paper falsely accusing Brown and Lewis of consenting to the PAC activity, though they certainly know this is not true. Voters must be alerted to these attempts to sabotage our elections.
The dismantling of campaign finance laws makes elections vulnerable to interference by PACs and others who undermined the system for their own self interests. This leaves to citizens the job of protecting our democratic election process.
After examining the positions of candidates Brown and Hart, considering their qualifications and getting the facts, I am casting my vote for Boyd Brown. Fellow citizens, please practice due diligence before you vote so our elections stay fair and free from false, unsubstantiated accusations. COLQUITTMEACHAM Kerrs Creek
