On Sept. 25, Parry McCluer High School had a ring ceremony. Juniors received a ring that is to be worn on their right hand ring finger that signifies unity and participation. An 11thgrader, James Miller, said about the ceremony, “Well, my favorite part would probably be when we got the ring. I mean, that’s the whole point of the ceremony, right?” Eleven juniors received a ring.
On Sept. 30, 24 juniors and seniors were inducted into the National Honor Society. They recited a pledge and lit their candles with one another. Family members attended the induction. The NHS is planning to do a holiday food drive. Nikki Carroll said that she enjoyed lighting and burning their candles, saying the pledge, and blowing it out as a group.
The Student Council Association held elections last week and the winners were Jaidynn Simmons, president; Kebryl Chandler, vice president; Ivy Talley, secretary; Caleb Cooper, treasurer. Students signed up for the office they wanted. Then they made a campaign video sharing what goals they have, and what they want to accomplish as well.
On Sept. 20, the Marching Blues competed at Blast in the Draft at Stuart Draft High School. They got second place in both percussion and music.
