Oct. 3, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette: The definition of transparency is the quality of being open to public scrutiny.
Steve Hart, candidate for Kerrs Creek supervisor, I feel, is a true believer in transparency in our local government.
Steve is a husband, father, local farmer, retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel, former professor at West Point and VMI, active community member, a person who you can trust with the expenditure of your tax dollars. Steve doesn’t take PAC money in order to promote that group’s agenda, i.e. solar farms.
Nor would he agree for the Rockbridge Economic Development Authority (EDA) to purchase a large tract of land in Raphine without an appropriate appraisal, using the county’s administration building as collateral. And, unlike the EDA, he is definitely against an airport for the chosen few.
We’ve heard the airport clan before, with the same old rhetoric.
All his posts on Facebook, hartforkerrscreek, are common sense solutions for our county. A truly honest man who cares about his community and truly preserving the rural way of life.
A common man with common sense. I ask that your readers to vote for Steve Hart for Kerrs Creek supervisor. AMY SCHEUER Kerrs Creek
