A record number of vendors – more than 150 – have signed up to be at Buena Vista’s annual Mountain Day celebration this Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the downtown area along Magnolia Avenue and at Magnolia Square.
Organizers say this milestone marks a new chapter for Mountain Day, promising a bigger, better, and more vibrant celebration of community, tradition and local talent. Those attending this festive event will be able to meet artisans and craftsmen, shop locally, enjoy live entertainment and savor food from across the region.
“This festival has been around for 30 years,” said Jen Carpenter, Main Street Buena Vista’s executive director. “We had to extend the festival an additional block this year.”
Breaking this vendor record, said Brooke Dalton, president of Main Street Buena Vista. “Shows the momentum bubbling in downtown Buena Vista and the teamwork that’s making our city shine.”
Carpenter said the event has something for everyone of all ages, “and is a showcase of what makes Buena Vista unique: its people, its mountains and its spirit of welcome.”
Visitors can make a full day of it in the Rockbridge area Saturday. After enjoying Mountain Day, guests can explore downtown Lexington for evening events such as the inaugural bar crawl or cap off the day with a historic ghost tour in Buena Vista or Lexington. Together, the region offers a one-of-a-kind experience that celebrates local history, community and small-town charm.
Mountain Day is made possible by Main Street Buena Vista and the Buena Vista Arts Council, along with the support of the city of Buena Vista and countless local businesses who continue to invest in the vitality of downtown.
Main Street Buena Vista is a nonprofit dedicated to revitalizing the historic heart of Buena Vista. “Through placemaking, small business support and community events,” said a spokesperson, “we are creating a vibrant downtown that honors our past while building a bright future.”
