Lisa Bowyer Rogers, a graduate of Blue Ridge Community College and the old Rockbridge High School, is originally from the Buena Vista/ South River area, but has lived in Glasgow for more than 35 years. She is seeking a third term on Glasgow Town Council.
She said she is seeking to continue to “make a difference and make improvements in our small town.” She wants to see more family-friendly areas and family events. She would like to see “more use of the rivers that surround us”. She does what she can to help the town manager to get the town cleaned up and make it a desirable place where people want to live.
According to Rogers, “the biggest concern are the drugs in town and all around us. We have to join all our efforts to combat this problem. I want to reach out to anyone that can work on this problem with us”.
She has been married to Roman Rogers for 47 years. They are the parents of three adult daughters and five grandsons. Her religious background is Methodist and Brethren.
She volunteers with the Glasgow Rescue Squad, and has been involved with the Glasgow Volunteer Fire Department in the past.
Rogers is currently retired, but at one time worked in the office of the Rockbridge County commissioner of revenue. She also worked previously as a nurse in the cardiac department, preparing and caring for patients after open-heart surgery or heart stents.
Her hobbies include drawing, painting, crafts, reading, fishing, camping and spending time with her grandsons and other family members.
