At the Sept. 9 Glasgow Town Council meeting, Town Manager Allyson Finchum noted the purchase of the former Presbyterian Church property was completed and an open house is planned for Dec. 9. Town Council meetings will be held there also.
The public comment time was moved to the beginning of the meeting to allow Carol McFadden to speak to Council concerning a neighbor’s field.
She explained that when the neighbor built his home next door he introduced himself and said he hoped to plant flowers and trees in a field on his property near hers. She evidently had a different vision as to what that would look like because she complained that his property now has “weeds” taller than her car and feels like he needs to bushhog the property. As it turns out the neighbor is actually Councilman Brandall Branch, who spoke briefly after her presentation showing photos of the field where he planted wild flowers, butterfly bushes, and all sorts of pollinators.
Mayor Paul Williams gave the Parks and Rec report noting there was a decent crowd at the last music concert and the next and last of the season would be on Sept. 27 with Proctor.
Williams also noted a citizen on Rockbridge Road reported a water leak in front of her house. This was quickly resolved. He said the water system project is scheduled to be finished by Oct. 1.
He reported that with help from 19 Washington and Lee University students, woodchips were put down in the playground at the ball field.
