Bar Offering Free Estate Planning For First Responders

The Rockbridge Area Bar Association (RABA) is working with the Virginia Bar Association and Virginia State Bar to provide local first responders with free estate plans as a welldeserved thank you for their acts of service.

Wills for Heroes is a program that initially began in the wake of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, when most of the first responders who perished in the line of duty lacked basic estate plans. In recognition of their service and sacrifices, this program was begun.

RABA will provide free wills, powers of attorney, and advanced medical directives to sworn law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical technicians and their spouses (“eligible first responders”) in Rockbridge County, the city of Lexington and the city of Buena Vista.

The event will be held on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Lexington Presbyterian Church’s Dunlap Auditorium. For more information, call John Sadler at (540) 276-8355, Jeanne Hepler at (540) 463-7119, or Ben Thurman at (540)-463-6016.
