The Rockbridge County High School golf team concluded a strong season by placing fifth of eight teams at the Region 3C tournament on Monday at Spotswood Country Club in Harrisonburg.
The Wildcats shot a 328 on the challenging 18-hole course. The two teams advancing to the Class 3 state tournament were winner Western Albemarle (294) and runner-up Liberty Christian Academy (317). The top three individuals outside of those teams also advanced.
Senior Harrison Tanner led the Wildcats, shooting a 78 to tie for ninth place of 48 golfers. RC’s second scorer was senior Dean Fafatas (80). Others contributing to RC’s team score were sophomores Joe Vargas (83) and Davis Welsh (87). Also competing for RC were sophomore Parker Flint (88) and junior Finbar Looney (90).
