Sept. 19, 2025 Editor, The News-Gazette: We are a wounded nation! Political violence is not random. Research says it is more likely when,
1) Democracy is declining rapidly.
2) When societies are divided by race, religion, and ethnicity.
3) When political leaders tolerate or encourage violence.
Maybe we should start here first! Two assassination attempts -one successful.
Looking at both it is another example of poor threat assessment, terrible security, and a leftist that utilized it to their advantage!
Written on the bullet casings:
1) “Hey fascist!” followed by a series of arrows.
2) “0 Bella Ciao, Bella Ciao”Lyrics from an anti-fascist World War II song. Today the song is a global symbol of resistance and freedom against oppression and injustice today - a rallying cry to activists.
The assassin models himself as an anti-fascist, similar to or actually a part of the terrorist group Antifa.
Joe Morelle, D-NY, stated that a moment of silence for Charlie Kirk is wrong, “We don’t even do it for our fallen members.” Shouting erupts amid the moment of silence for Charlie Kirk.
We must be bold! Truth- what is real and where is your treasure? We need to answer.
Do we want to continue pouring poison in the public well to stoke the fire for one more election cycle? Or finally decide that the country they wish to lead is worth saving from the flames?
