About 100 walkers participated in the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s at the track at Maury River Middle School this past Saturday. ABOVE, The Promise Garden is a feature at events, where participants plant colored flowers to symbolize their personal connection and commitment to fighting the disease. Blue is for those living with Alzheimer’s, yellow is for caregivers, purple is for those who have lost someone to the disease, and orange is for supporters who are fighting for a future without Alzheimer’s. AT RIGHT, T-shirts commemorating the event were sold and there were balloons for the kids. BOTTOM RIGHT, children work on crafts in the children’s area. At press time $1,600 had been raised. The walk was sponsored by ConnectionsPlus Healthcare + Hospice. (Joann Ware photos)
